Date: Feb 2021

The HSE have issued a Bulletin that includes… 'Workers can develop hypersensitive pneumonitis, a serious and irreversible respiratory illness, as a result of occupational exposure to welding fumes and metalworking fluids over a long period.

Because of the risks to health to workers, HSE plan to inspect engineering premises from May to September 2021 focussing on these health hazards.

HSE will be visiting firms to make sure you’re complying with controlling welding fumes. If you're in any doubt about when your LEV systems were last COSHH tested or if your welding fume extraction units are compliant we strongly recommend you take the time to find out.
