Airflow Monitors

Airflow Monitors are a simple and highly effective method of providing reassurance that LEV airflow has not fallen below the certified flow rate. Many companies still think that a ‘tell-tale’ piece of paper taped to the hood/nozzle is an adequate indication the system is operating correctly. This only shows that the system is operating, it does not show if the flow rate has suddenly dropped, and capture has been reduced.

HSE state*:– “There isn’t a specific legal requirement to have airflow indicators or similar fitted to an extraction system. But as an employer you do by law have to make sure your LEV system keeps working properly. One of main reasons why LEV doesn’t do what it should, is because the airflow falls for some reason (eg. build-up of material, damage to ducting etc), becomes inadequate and effective control is lost”

Fumex Ltd offer two digital Airflow Monitors and an analogue Airflow Indicator Gauge. Our digital branded model is ideal for mounting directly to ducting (or wall mounting). The Chevron Monitor is small and light, so ideal for directly mounting to an extraction hood or nozzle. Both models are battery powered and easy to calibrate (any system must be tested first to check flow rate meets HSG 258). The analogue gauge is ideal for ATEX rated systems.

Our Airflow monitors can be fitted by our engineers on installation or during a COSHH assessment. We also supply direct, for customers to fit to their existing LEV. Please call for further details or advice.
